If you saw a response at early pod fill it makes sense. At the R3-R5 stage the plant officially switches from anionic growth to cationic. At this time adding a product to give the plant and soil some conductivity in the form of salt will typically get you a response 1-3 gallon would accomplish this. I have heard of an outfit that is using this to help deter aphids as well. Not sure on that.
