Subject: RE: RR1 saved seed story

S. MN
It will be interesting to see what the major soybean breeders will do. From what I have heard around the industry, most have been concentrating their efforts on breeding RR2's, because Monsanto told them that no one could retail RR1's after the spring of 2013. If all of the breeders concentrate on RR2's, then the RR1's won't be worth saving, because the yield on the RR2's will have caught up by then. Also, what will happen after the "global regulatory support" is no longer maintained after 2017? Will RR1's be able to be exported? That may make them go away once and for all. And with that looming question, how many breeders will switch back to working with RR1's?
