USA | Unless there is something new that has come along recently, there is not any test to tell what the genetic makeup is of a soybean, like can be done with corn and wheat.
As far as RR1 soybeans sold today, there are several being marketed that do not carry a patent on the bean in the bag. They are sold as a brand not as a variety. Varities are protected by patents, not brands of soybeans were variety is not be identified..
Some companies , have went to putting misleading information on the seed tag to bluff farmers, into thinking the brand of bean they are buying is protected by a patent. Was talking to a person last spring that bought a a brand of NGMO soybeans, had patent pending on the tag without any identification on the seed tag of the variety. Another tatic is to place a bogus variety identification on the seed tag of one being sold as a brand, with the words patent pending
