Panhandle of Ne. | today. Not trying to start a P against Dk thread, but found this interesting. Was looking at a 90 day corn from both cos. and they had about 200 gdu's dif. between their advertised gdu's for black layer. Since there is no industry standard on rm or gdu's, asked the Dk dealer if both seed cos. were using the same starting date when counting gdu's needed for black layer. He said he didn't know but would find out. Called this am and said that Dk and Garst starts counting the day after you plant and P starts on day of emergence. They claim it takes about 150 - 200 gdu's from planting until emergence. A little misleading unless a person knows. | |
