Subject: As I grow older................

...............certain statements remind me of comments that got stuck in my head years ago.
4. Yields can be affected by things that happened 50 to 100 years ago and the way I farm may affect yields 50 to 100 years later.
This reminded me of a friend of mine that was having a particular tough time with a weed situation. This was easily 25 years ago. He had a university agronomist out to help diagnose the situation. The agronomist was explaining that in this situation, weed seed could lay dormant in the soil for 25-50 years. My friend adjusted his cap, scratched his head and turned to his father and said "Damn it Dad, we're just now trying to kill the weeds that you let go to seed, this is all your fault". lol
