| Had same problem yesterday late afternoon with 9610. Had only 60 acres double crop to custom do for a friend, got about 40 done and smoke. Thought we had it blown off and out, made 1 round, smoke again. Fire dept was called and spent an hour hosing down inside and out and putting out stubble fire. Made one more round, went up again. Gave up for the night and finishing as I type this (hopefully) today before it gets too dry out. Used to do quite a few ourselves, always heard stories, but never had any fire trouble ourselves, but never cut them this dry (7%). At least no major damage, melted walker drive gearcase fill tube. Think I'll turn down that job next year. | |
