There are a couple ways to reply to a message. I use the Reply Button to the upper right of the message I'm replying to. When I do that, I get an editable message title. If you use the quick reply box that "might" appear below the message, depending on your control panel settings, you "might" not have the ability to edit the message title. A link to your Control Panel is on the top right of each page. The choice for the quick reply box is near the bottom left. I'm including a screen grab of mine. I personally have mine set for "none" as I want to go into the full editor when replying. If yours is set for "compact" you don't get a message title to edit.
