Ethridge, TN
I used to run like the others are talking till I moved down "here". we can maybe make it about an hour after dark this year. Of course, we are cutting double crops, as all the singles have been finished quite a while ago. So we have the wheat straw to contend with, as well as the beans, and the straw gives us the most problems. Since we run drapers, feeding isn't a real problem, but there still comes that point when the sickle will no longer cut it off. Add in all the moisture in this ground, lot of time spent cutting beans off the top of standing water, and that complicates it more.

Other thing is, the wind just doesn't blow down here after the sun sets. Very rare to have much of a breeze. With being in so close to the river, we also get all that moisture. Just alot different conditions for harvest compared to what they run up north.
