Subject: Moisture Tester

My old moisture tester finally gave up. It was a Farmex brand from Rural King 15 years ago. It is the one that you put the sample in and screw the lid down until it was level on top. They still have them at John Deere for $238. I noticed in Shoup they have a Dickey-John type for $210 that is a scoop type. Is one better or are they both cheap and I need to invest in a different brand. I know that a tester is pretty important when you have a bin full of corn and it is being stored all winter. Especially this year. I like to take a sample to the elevator that is writing the check and calibrate it to there official tester. I guess all handle held testers would do this. Thanks,
