Subject: What Size I Beam for Shop Hoist?

Canmore Ab. Canada
We presently have a 12' x 12' shop hoist. The kind with a 4 wheel rolling trolley. It is a two ton trolley and hoist but I suspect it lifts more than that occasionally. The top beam is 8" x 4" and I am not sure of the weight. It works well but is too small.
We would like to build one that is 20 feet wide and a bit taller. We are thinking an I beam 12" tall and 6" wide. We have a choice between 26lb per foot or 37(??)lb per foot beam. Am I even in the ball park???
Would the flange on the 26lb beam hold the trolley??
Even if the hoist is 2 ton I think I would like to build for a maximum deflection of 2" at 4 ton mid span.
I hope this makes some sense. What do you guys have? Is there a genius with formulas out there that could figure this out? Glensts?
Thanks for your help. Dan...
