John, to the best of my knowledge (which isn't much) carrot soup is not typical Dutch. At least I never had had it and I grew up as Dutch as can be.
Now, mashed potatoes, mashed onions and mashed carrots with meat mixed in yes, that is a traditional Dutch dish. Very, very good!!
