I think I'd rather get the bottom wet like that for a few minutes rather than having the entire machine get wet from the top down for a week at a time sitting in the field waiting for it to dry down.
At least in these photos, all the dust and MOG got washed off instead of just soaked into the corners, nooks and crannies.
