Subject: RE: Virgin Bean Ground VS. Continuous Corn and Bean

This is a great topic.. We notice the same thing here with the exception we dont grow beans.. However we grow lentils which are also a pulse crop.. Lentils on virgin pulse ground will outyield land that has been in a rotation for many years in our area. This year had some new virgin lentil ground seeded to lentils and they outyielded side by side 20%.. I dont believe it is a disease issue as we are in a very low pressure area and use fungicides like headline to ensure disease populations stay low. We have discussed this with various agronomists and they are of all the same opinion that their is definately "something" happening.. However nobody including myself is smart enough to figure it out yet..
