Subject: Beans in a slow cooker

I would like to try to make some beans in a crock pot. When I was in Texas we had "backed beans" that didn't have the brown sugar or bbq sauce to them. They were not real saucy at all. However, they did have good flavor and a little heat to them. The closest thing that I have come to them up in WI is a Cracker Barrel and they are not the same. Anyone have any recipes even if they are not in a crock pot. Bushes beans in a can are alright but they don't do it for me. I just cannot stand the brown sugar or bbq sauce beans all the time. Thanks
