Subject: Re: who runs 8780 Massey

I do not have experience with green canola straw, but....we run both an 8560 and 9790. We have had green stem soybeans. Last year we put a helical vane accelerator in the 8560, taking the original beater out. This seemed to make all the difference. Before we put the helical vane accelerator in we would get the slugs of green stems and if it didn't make the rotor gumble it would plug it. Last fall we had green stem beans again and things ran smooth. I know that most, if not all, 8780 XP's had the helical vane accelerator. Some of the original 8780's didn't. With all the knives in the rotor and etc I would not be afraid of some green material going through a rotor. I hope this helps. The are a great simple combine.
