Subject: Re: Hard Red Spring Wheat

I am right in HRS country and I am still trying to finish seeding HRW, even though we are 10-20 days late. My late planted HRW should still out yield the last HRS I seed next spring, even though the HRW may not emerge this fall. In Western ND we expect HRW to yield about 45-50 and HRS about 30-35. If your neighbor insists on trying it, then I would recommend an early SD variety and seed it in January or February. I would guess that March seeding in OK would be much too late. If his HRW makes 50, then the HRS should make 15-25 in OK.
