Subject: Couple general soybean harvesting quesions.

Hi. Just have a couple general questions about soybean harvest if you might have a minute.

While watching a farm south of me combine a few acres a couple weeks ago, it appeared quite dusty, as in nearly a soil kind of dust as one might see conventional tilling a dry field. Is this normal? Is it to the point sometimes, that you have a difficult time seeing into the combine tank?

What is a "percentage" on a normal year, that one might expect for pods in the tank and also splits? Is say 5% splits acceptable in less than ideal conditions? What percentage splits would you run if you needed to get the field off and for some reason the combine was splitting more than you'd like?

I've read a few threads about parts like perforated elevator doors etc., however most say that the perforation splits more than it allows dirt to fall through. What are some other options that might help the dirt to escape, but without splitting or chipping the beans?

 Thanks for any help.
