It works best to go plant in the fall, For me that is between aug 15 and sep 15 , I like to go behind wheat wheat so you can get a crop off that field that year, Spring works well also but you are going to get alot less hay to sell that year, If you are wanting cow hay the oats mix works really well like one of the above posts said. Ive seen dad put oats in the fall also.
