Subject: How about milk from a Hereford....

Years ago I had a middle aged Hereford cow lost her calf and I ended up milking her for family use and to feed cats. As a common range cow from the herd that had received no special perks she was as gentle and cooperative as any dairy cow that had been bred and raised for the status of family milk cow.

She didn't have a name so I called her "Ma Cow". I was quite surprised Ma Cow gave a rather large quantity of very rich milk. Only drawback was she was a really hard milker. But that built up muscles in my hands I didn't know I had LOL!

Becoming a milk cow saved her from prematurely becoming hamburger and she stayed in the herd as a range cow several more years.
