| 72/73 shows a yield of 28 bu. per ac. and the 82 number is a yield of 19.94 bu per ac. Did the 82 number have the 83 summer in it?
Ok, I don't remember the weather, and that could have a big impact on what I am about to say. However I still feel that the idea has merit.
As acres grow, our yields decline.
I keep seeing corn acres listed as this many acres equals that much crop. Just not going to happen. They are taking this years yield and plugging next years acres to it without regard to the "weakening" yields as ground not "suited" to corn is seeded to corn.
As for the acres numbers not working out, I know the corn belt can not imagine that acres are here that are not being planted and not in CRP. It is just sitting there waiting for higher prices. But as the ground is not in production now, what quality can it be?
