Subject: RE: Ag Leader and Graham Electric for Drill--Torque?

Eastern Ontario
With a drill it is recommended to use granular application, as the only feedback we have is a shaft speed sensor. The drill doesn't have seed tube sensors, which takes away the option of doing a true planting configuration. This only seems to be an issue in the product I can select in the configuration. Years ago I built a system that used liquid modules to control a Duo Rate for variable seeding, so this isn't a big concern.

The other reason I am leaning toward the Strip Till module is that the Ag Leader configurator recommends it for air seeder application, and when I get one system going, it will be built so that it can move between drill and fertilizer applications. The strip till module will also control up to 3 channels. The reason I asked specifically about the drill, is that I can't find a good reference to anyone who has actually done it on a box drill. My gut tells me that it should turn no problem, as I remember turning drills with a wrench and they never seemed to drive hard, but out in the field with soybeans or peas may be a different torque situation. I'm at the point now that the only way to find out is to try it!

I have asked Ag Leader for a current spec on the motor driver, will let you know what I find out.

As far as your situation goes, I don't see why it wouldn't work, and I'd be happy to help you get it going. Thanks!
