Good morning, I am wanting to acquire my class A CDL in Ohio. I own and have been driving trucks for 8 years under ag exemption. I am proficient at operating and know how to service and repair to the extent needed to pass a pre-trip inspection test. The issue I have is it looks like an individual needs to complete a training and certification class provided by a registered FMCSA Training Provider. Once you complete this class you must get a certificate or you’re registered on a list that is obtained before taking pretrip, skill, and road test?
Is there any way I can prove that I am proficient or bypass this so I don’t have to spend 5 weeks and 4-6 thousand on a class to obtain the certificate? I have already obtained my CDL permit and medical examiners certificate, I have a truck and trailer of my own that will pass DOT inspection that I can use to take the pretrip, skill, and road test. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Can do it online
