Seriously, it's one of this farm's best money makers. $75/acre input costs with $0.80/lb N (seed, fert, spray), and you have low volume and high price... We've sold ours for $12.00 / bu for the past few years. Yields between 12 & 17 bu/ac (we've only grown it on marginal land so far).
The fabric is made from the "linen" - the fibres from the stem after retting.
It's tough to cut - make sure you have a sharp knife!
Considering they grow it in Brazil, you shouldn't have any problem growing it in the USA.
