How old is the 1770? It could just need a software update. But I was thinking some of the older seedstar wedge boxes don't work with the gen 4 and newer monitors. Maybe that has been fixed which could still mean the planter just needs the software updated.

After reading your post again are you saying you put the g5 and the globe on an r series tractor and the g5 still won't get gps speed? If so this doesn't seem like a planter problem at all but either a display or globe problem. And if you tried a 4640 and a g5 in the R series tractor. That only leave the receiver as the problem.
