That is the way my recipe starts out, then I add a some dried minced onion, a pinch of parsley, a squirt of ketchup, a capful of lemon juice, salt and pepper and a little bit of milk if it is too dry and needs moisture to "stick" together. I use a non-stick square griddle on the stovetop to "fry" mine. Make patty's about the size of a golf ball, place on griddle, and flatten with a fork. I like mine thin so they cook all the way thru.
Mom always served these with homemade mac and cheese (or she would do mac n tomatoes for her), and peas. Isn't it amazing that we always fall back on the foods/menus that our Moms prepared for us while growing up?! I'm glad that I did pay attention to my Mom when she cooked. I'm also very happy that my own daughter loves to watch/help me cook.....and she's just 4!
