North Central Kansas
We started using RFID tags in our cows three years ago. We used the vets reader the first year. Last year we bought our own reader that syncs with our scale head. Our vet got the tags for us from the Kansas dept of ag. All of our replacements this year have the new orange rfid tag. It speeds up our record keeping process when we work cows. Typically it is just us and our vet.

Our vet works the local sale barn. It reduces his time processing cattle after sale.

In my opinion if it ever comes to mandated rfid for feeder cattle they should require that the carcass data has to be accessible to the original producers. If they are going to be able to track those animals back to individual farms those farms should have access to that data. If the goal is to improve the end product the only way to do that is to share data.
