Southeast | There has been biodegradable twine around for years. But it does take some time, even in the gut.
Back when we were switching from sisal to pure plastic twine, I lost a full-grown cow. Cut her open and found a large ball of twine had obstructed her bowel. Best I could figure, the ball was inside a roll from some hay I had purchased. That is usually easy to catch if a person is watching their baler.
I am not going to hijack the thread, but a twine baler with dual twine arms is only about 3-5 seconds slower per bale. I have proven this time and again with my net wrap buddies. I like twine Much better in freezing climate, which we are on the lower edge of, so we get a lot of freeze and thaw, making it worse.
