NW Missouri | We do both. Turn bulls out 6/1 and 12/1. The actual calving is nicer in the fall obviously, but the spring calves seem to grow better since they have better conditions to grow in. Everybody's situation is different.
Having both is a PITA at times and creates more work as you do everything twice a year, but I like how we can stretch our bulls twice as far, and the first time something comes up open, we usually keep them, because by the time we find out, it's only a month or two before we'll be turning bulls in with the other herd. They only get one second chance though. | |
