I really don’t disagree with you. Anyone who has spent years of matching up the right bull or AI sire will find my comments BS. Also packers offer a grid pricing system of premiums and discounts which is hard to get much of a premium out of it. Having said all that, cattle come into the plant at a younger age and have a harder time grading so we came up with select. That was an attempt to accept lower quality. The cattle industry has had a hard time capturing full value mostly because plants find the most profit in being a mega size plant and not run the plant at full capacity causing a backlog in the front end a slight shortage of product coming out the back end. Besides a plant sells a lot more products than meat so knowing their true profits is impossible. We are the only country in the world that feeds heavy calves a high energy ration which is very hard on quality. I need to stop writing this and light the grill and put on a 80/20 burger
