Subject: RE: Long term cattle reality

The cow herd is smaller because of drought and prices, so the poorer ones have been already been culled. To build the herd will require going deeper into the heifer base, I already save about all all my good ones, but I don't buy 10k bulls. Ten years ago the market threw quite a carrot out there to build the herd but too many got burned by the lower prices that followed and this time, many are looking at the current market as a selling opportunity. Personally, I would like to sell down now, rest my body and soul a bit, and take a run at the next cycle to buy quality when it is "on sale".
