Western Oregon | It does help knowing others are doing it. We just keep 2 small bottles of water in the freezer and rotate one for each of us to the fridge. We started this in the motor home. The thawing bottles and thawing food stuffs kept the small cooler cold without needing to buy ice. We used a small 12v chest freezer, used a lot less power than a 12v RV refrigerator. This has given us the strenght to cut out wheat flour, processed foods and sugar. We grow and gleann 90% of our food. We have a small freezer at our off grid cabin and we can some, and dehydrate. We grow micro-greens, sprout and ferment. We do the same with water in our small van when on the road, now. Very eye opening what you don't need. We carry 2-1 gallon milk jugs of water and fill as needed. We lived this winter in a 240 sqft cabin built from a shed. We built 2 this year, one here at the Oregon beach and 1 to replace an old "log scale shack" that we have lived in since Y2k, off grid. We are about to move back there this week into the new shed....James | |
