Point miss completely. The USDA didn’t cause the price to go down because it convinced the market that SA had the same production prospects Jan 1 as they did Dec 1 by printing a slightly larger number for the Argentinian crop. The market was trading this opinion ahead of the USDA release already. The market doesn’t trade based solely on monthly data issued by USDA.
