SE Wisconsin
We are in Southeastern Wisconsin...

In a good year, we have been able to do 2 acres per cow.... with good, timely rain... This year I will have 2.5 acres per cow. My goal is to get to 4 acres per cow and we can make hay on the stuff getting too mature as needed

I think if you have new pasture planted on row crop ground (recent tillage and little sod) and made hay on it the first year, you should be pretty good to let the cows go on it this year. Obviously make sure the ground is not too wet where you will get compaction issues on that new field. I made that mistake last year and ruined a fresh field. It was all hoof punched everywhere.
