Central NE
I would think that roots growing and expanding more where nutrients are concentrated would be expected, and growing roots have bacteria leading the way. If I were a plant, why would I expend energy putting more roots to my right if my left had hit the motherload? Same thing would happen I expect if you only watered one side of a plant. If you have supplied enough of the crops nitrogen artifically with the ammonia bar, your crop should do well. The one thing about ammonia is it does get used up.
