Subject: RE: LENTIL GROWERS.........

have grown both varieties and have a lot of redberry's seeded this year. What you are seeing is normal and most often the redberry's will have many double seeded pods. With regards to pods /plant, I have seen redberries with upwards of 130 pods /plant and as low as 20 pods in the same year. It seems to depend on your plant density ,rowpacing.. The more room they have , the more they branch out and then you get plants with more pods as they are more robust. They will not yield anymore than a more densely populated field with 40 pods/plant will be my guess.. Best yields I have had with red lentils in the last 12 years I have grown them is about 50 bpa and this was a thick well podded heavy stand about 14" tall.
