Subject: Fertilizer Application for Sorghum

This is my first year of No-Tilling and of raising anything besides wheat. My question is regarding milo which I double-cropped into my wheat stubble. The soil samples called for 70 lb/acre of nitrogen, but I only put on 30 lb at planting time to avoid damaging the seed. I used 30 inch rows and liquid nitrogen from the planter. I do not have a side-dress applicator, and the coop does not rent those anymore in my area, so it appears the only way I can get the remaining 40 lb of nitrogen on would be to broadcast dry fertilizer. Is that going to work very well with the rows spaced that far apart, and will the nutrients get tied up in the straw? Do I have any other options?

Also, I intend to plant soybeans on that ground next year, and I was reading that atrazine carryover could be a problem if you plant anything besides corn the next year. Is that true, and should I cut back on the rate of atrazine I put on?
