Subject: 535 Deere baler.......density adjustment.

Kansas
When I first got this baler umpteen years ago and set the density it would make alfalfa bales so heavy the baler would jump when they came out.

Now I have the density set where the needle runs right on the line between the red and green on the gauge.

When tieing off with the string and done, the needle will be half way in the green or less. Stacking the bales I have noticed they are no where near as tight as I'd like them to be.

I'm only running a lil over 5 mph in average hay. Not super light but not real heavy either.

What should a fella do? Just set the density so the gauge is running in the red while baling and then be at the higher end of the green side when its done tieing?

Or is there something else out of whack that needs adjustment?

Thanks.

Other than it doesn't start a bale worth a damn baling sweet sorghum, I still like this baler. Less sensors, less frills and thrills. Plain ole easy to use monitor. Now if I can just figure out this density ordeal.
