Tain, Scotland | Went to start Inter 785xl had'nt been moved for 6 months so took new battery with me banged on the connections and alternator smokes like a good un. Quickly hauled off connectors and watch alternator smolder. Stood scratching head for a minute phoned mate who suggested testing polarity of battery and lo and behold battery is polled the wrong way. Monday morning will see a battery and burnt out alternator returned to machine shop. I will not be paying for either and will expect a new battery and alternator for nothing. Got Inter going with other battery and put on the slasher to take out a few thistles and bits and bobs.
