lizton IN | Most of the time its easier to cut the part in a bandsaw then chuck it back in the lathe and face it to length. If you need to use a parting tool spin slow and oil. If it is a deep cut you may want to make the grove wider so things can't ball up. If you are going to have a problem in the lathe it will be with a parting tool most of the time. I just use the high speed steal blades. Don't have them sticking out to long.
