Subject: RE: 12 course meal?

Southwestern Minnesota
I've had a few "fancy" meals in my time. Not sure if this was for a fundraiser or what the situation was, but sometimes it is fun to splurge. I'd be hard pressed to spend that much for a meal, but have had some splurges in my day. My splurges were at a wedding reception in NYC and an event put on by the Beef Council in Kansas City. Neither were 12 courses, but these would be my picks:
Cocktails- Old Fashioned
Hors d-oeuvres- Stuffed Mushrooms
Appetizers- Shrimp Cocktail
Salad- Spinach salad with Strawberry Vinaigrette Dressing
Soup Homemade French Onion
Fish- Almond Encrusted Walleye
Poultry- Pheasant
Palate Cleanser- Rice Crackers or Lemon Sorbet
Red Meat- Grilled Ribeye with Mushrooms
Cheese- Variety with crackers
Dessert- Creme Brule or Tiramisu
Mini Dessert- Godiva Chocolate Truffle
I'm not good at pairing wine with the offerings, but have been to restaurants that are good at this, so would go with their recommendation. I had some very good pairings at a fancy restaurant in Kansas City that impressed me! The key to a many coursed meal is to have it last over several hours and be very small portions!
