Subject: RE: Ring job

just a tish NE of central ND
I'm wondering what the reasoning is to the need for fixing. Stuck rings perhaps or just too soft of rings?
Coating on piston to help with oil consumption...How does that work?. (that is job or the rings, not the pistons o a coating) Pistons have to have oil clearance all around to let lubrication in between the mating surfaces . Rings have a expansion gap on the ends and no clearance in the bore and need to fit properly per cylinder / per individual bore.
And what about the wear in the bore holes? That wont magically match a new set of rings the same on every used engine.. There isnt replaceable sleeves in the block, is there?
