i WOULD TAKE A 3 INCH END CAP AND DRILL A HOLE IN IT THE DIAMETER OF THE HYDRANT PIPE AND THEN CUT IT IN HALF AND PUT ON THE 3 INCH PIPE AND PUT A large hose clamp around it to hold it in place
Sounds like a good idea to me. Would help keep stuff you don't want from falling down the gap too.
I like this idea...I was trying to think of a way to seal the pipe up yesterday and this didn't cross my mind.
