I second the book "Alchemy of Air" and another one that's interesting is about the banana trade. It's by Rich Cohen and is called "The Fish that Ate the Whale: The Life & Times of America's Banana King". It's about the history of bananas and how they got to the US along with the fraud and so forth about it. Fun book and something unique on a different crop we consume daily.
