One never thinks about digestive systems, but human digestive systems are an internal system and plants depend on an external digestive system. Plants depend on soil microbes to make nutrients and elements available for absorption into the roots and then for the plant to utilize for growth and reproduction.
Plant breeders have focused on increasing yields which has resulted in less nutrient density per serving. | |
