I was four years old. No tv, only a radio. I had no knowledge of the event until I learned about it in history class in school, and that would probably have been in the 5th or 6th grade. I'm sure my older brother and sister, (brother 17 and just out of high school at the time; sister 11) and my parents probably heard about it on the radio. I don't remember them ever discussing it but I'm sure they did. I'm also sure that my parents voted for him. I'll try to remember to ask mom tomorrow.
