Subject: RE: Land liability insurance companies

Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa

otis34 - 11/19/2022 10:07 We are currently with state farm after moving on from farm bureau a few yesrs ago. We recnelty bought a property with an old house on it and I’m not pleased with the State Farm quote, mainly because there is an old house that is not worth much $10,000 probably until recently. So lets say its worth $25,000 at the most and they want to insure it for $120,000 to increase the premium. I’m tired of these shenanigans. Does anyone have any good insurance brokers for farm liability with a few building and old homes? Thank you

"Here" we can't insure a vacant house. If you're planning on using it as a rental, I guess you need to decide if you'd replace it if it burnt to the ground. We were in that spot some years ago, decided there was no way we'd replace the house, so only covered the ground it sat on with liability and let it go at that. It worked for us, YMMV.
