Nwmo | We plant all of our beans in 30in row. We usually have to spray 3 times a year, we burn down usually right before planting. Then after the beans are up and depending on weed pressure we came back with extreme this year which is pursuit and RU. It didn't really hold the water hemp back on some high pressure fields, beans on beans for several years. So we had to go back with cadet with ru or flexstar. We used to row crop cultivate all the corn and beans but we have picked up several terraced fields that just won't allow us to do that so we have put the time and effort into spraying for control. We figure the extra cost in purchasing and maintaining a split row planter over a straight 30in planter far overcomes the cost of spraying that 3rd time. Almost everyone in this area bought into the split row beans idea when it came out and everyone thinks we are crazy but it works for us.
