Subject: RE: preparing a pasture to plant

NorthCentral Illinois
I burned down some brome grass pasture in early April with 36 oz of Roundup. It was barely 50 degrees the day I did it and got excellent control of the grass. I mowed it down tight to the ground in November to try and promote new growth in the early spring so roundup would have some green grass to take it in. Soil is a red timber clay it was easy to plant into as it was mellow from all the grass roots. Planter has starter tank on it that I steam 32% and Thio-sol on top of the ground by the closing wheels. Got an excellent uniform stand of corn will see this fall how it turns out.
