Subject: RE: New tires and the Tahoe wanders

Pilot Grove, Missouri
How much air is in them. If they are 10 ply tires on a Tahoe that isn't carrying much extra weight, they don't need the max pressure that is listed on the sidewall. That is what a lot of tire shops will inflate them to, however. Overinflated for the load and new tread, the tread the tread surface will be rounded instead of flat across the width of the tire. This will cause wandering you describe. Lowering the pressure from 80 (if that is what they have in them) to 50-60 may improve handling. Patrick
