Just outside downtown Prairie Hill | We needed to sort pairs to move some of the cows to a diffent farm. We use Z tags and Z tag marking pens. Calves are tagged at birth to match momma. I was aware that the numbers did not last as long as they used to...I was surprised to discover how much they had faded so quickly. These are spring calves for us...April/May calves. I am guessing we had @ 30% that we could read. We often try to retrace the numbers to get more ink on the tag. I believe this has become much worse in the last couple of years. Is this the tag or the ink?
What are you using that stays legible for a few years? We really like the one piece Z tags but unless you can read them.... Thanks |
